My moment in time writing :)

Under the depth of the sea, the corals and reefs have little fish swimming out of them. A Moai from Easter island is laying one the rocky reefs as still as a stone. (Well, he is already a stone so...) Full of interest, 4 divers are looking curiously at the Moai while shining torches back and forth.

There is a soft lapping of water above the surface. Confused, I hear a quiet, minuscule, but clear gurgle in the lost Moai’s mouth.The little bubbles are going blub blub blub coming out of the diver’s mouths. The flippers of the divers are swiftly slapping the water to make them zoom faster. 

The tiny, cold, water particles are quickly seeping through my wetsuit. Air is slowly but surely flowing out of my air tank.Rough rocks under my feet scrap my rubber flippers. I feel a little, vicious crab pinch my thumb.

I wonder how the Moai got here? Did he fly here with a little jet-pack?

CHOOSE TUESDAY

This term we did choose Tuesday again. Choose Tuesday is where you can choose an activity to do, and every Tuesday, you work on that activity with a parent or teacher. This term I did Art. It was pretty fun. I would like to thank Sara for putting into so much time into this art activity. My favourite part of Art was screen printing. It was really fun.

Show DON’T Tell

• It was cold at the beach

           The bitter sand crunched under my feet as the icy cold water washed up to my numb feet.

• The house needed repairs.

The floorboards creaked and the mouldy roof wobbled in the wind. The smashed windows gave an eerie feeling to the house.

• Mum was angry.

Her eyes turned a tomato red and her fists clenched into balls. Her teeth gritted so hard I thought that her teeth would snap any second. Her cheeks started puffing and her eyes fixed on my every move.

• He scored a try.

He sidestepped his opponents and spun past multiple people. He launched off the ground and he flew just over the try-line.

The Game

As the ball came sailing through the air towards Richie, he knew that what happened over the next few moments could decide the outcome of the game for his team.

With his team-mates all watching him, and a thousand eyes glued to his every move from the sidelines, Richie gulped. His heart pounded inside his chest as he reached his frozen hands into the air to catch the ball…

The ball slipped into his hands and he dropped back down to the ground. He sprinted around his opponent and dashed to the try-line. 

His ribs racked and his eyes bulged. His heartbeat sped up and his legs felt numb. His rival was right behind him, running with all his might. When he was nearly at the try-line, his competitor tackled him, hard. He didn’t give up so he  gave the ball to his teammates.

“Mccaw, Smith, Moody, Whitelock, Mccaw, he runs to the try-line, he launches off the ground, The English players breathing on his neck, yet scores a try in the last minute of extra time!!!”

Richie was burning with pride as his teammates celebrate their victory. His face was shimmering and smiled with a broad grin. 

He jogged up the pedestal to receive the World Cup. His eyes lit up like fireworks and a gigantic smirk spread across his face. 

Today we had to write about show don't tell. Which is showing the viewer but not telling.
