  1. Kia Ora Alodia,

My name is Rachel and I am working with the Summer Learning Journey team this year. It is wonderful to see that you have completed the entire programme. Wow! Congratulations! I also see that it is your birthday tomorrow. Happy (almost) birthday!

I really hope that you have enjoyed the journey and learned a lot. I can see from your presentation that you learned that the sand cat is endangered and were surprised by some facts, including the fact that 80% of the rubbish on the beaches is made up of plastic materials. That fact really surprised me as well!

I hope that you will have the chance to share all of your learning with your teachers and peers at school when you go back in February. In the meantime, feel free to continue with us on the SLJ by posting comments on the blogs of other students who are participating. You can earn 2 extra points for every high quality comment that you make. A high quality comment is at least three sentences long and includes a description of what you liked or found interesting in the post. You can also add a question of your own, if you'd like to know more about what the author has written.

Hope that you will have time to post some comments over the coming weeks. The SLJ is open every day until Friday 25 January 2019 so there is plenty of time to earn yourself lots of extra bonus points...

    Wishing you a great summer!

    Bye for now,
    Rachel :)

    1. Hello Rachel,
Thank you for commenting on my blog. I found a mistake in my post, so I changed it. My birthday is actually on Jan 15, not Jan 14. Luckily I found out and changed it. I hope that you also enjoy the rest of your summer holiday.

  2. Kia ora Alodia,
    it's your sister here:)
    You've done so much SLJ.
I like your last slide, my favorite statement is 'The thing that upsets me is that SLJ lasts for only 4 weeks'. You don't need to be too sad because you can do SLJ next year!

This reminds me of when I did this last activity, I was also really sad.

Next time, I think you can jazz up the front 2 page a bit more, it only has a wolf and rainbow writing.

  3. Kia ora Alodia,

A huge congratulations on completing all 60 Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) activities. I have been blown away at your determination to whiz through the activities but still put in a lot of effort to answer the questions correctly. What an incredible achievement you have accomplished over the holidays, you should be proud of yourself because I am proud of you.

I have learnt so much from you through the three activities you have shared on your slide. In fact, I did not know that there is such a thing as an Arctic Hare. They look absolutely beautiful. You have acknowledged that all three animals have a similar colouring, I think you would be surprised that a lot of animals from the arctic or Antarctica have similar colouring. Do you know why this might be?

It is sad to see that your journey completing activities has finished. However, it does not need to be the end. You can comment on other SLJ participants blogs just like you have been commenting on Claire's blog. Follow the link below and you can see a number of students from all over the country who are involved in the programme.

Once again, congratulations on completing the programme, Alodia. You go girl!

    Nga mihi,
    Megan :)
